What Moves and What Does Not
Store migrations should be honest about limits. Here is the exact list of what Hopover copies and what it does not.
What Moves to Shopify
| Item | What we copy | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Products | Titles, HTML descriptions, product types, tags, and active status. | Moved |
| Variants | SKUs, prices, compare-at prices, weights, barcodes, and options (size, color). | Moved |
| Inventory | Stock quantities per variant mapped to your Shopify default location. | Moved |
| Images | Featured product photos, gallery images, and image alt text. | Moved |
| Collections | WooCommerce categories and subcategories mapped to Shopify collections. | Moved |
| Customers | Names, email addresses, phone numbers, and default shipping/billing addresses. | Moved |
| Orders | Past orders imported as historical line items with SKU matching, notes, and totals. | Moved |
| SEO Redirects | Automatic 301 URL redirects so old WooCommerce URLs point to new Shopify pages. | Moved |
What Does Not Move
| Item | Why it does not move | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Passwords | WordPress passwords are encrypted with one-way phpass hashes and cannot be read. Customers receive an invitation link to activate their Shopify account. | Excluded |
| Credit Cards | Card numbers stored in payment gateways cannot be transferred across platforms due to PCI-DSS payment rules. Customers enter their card on their next purchase. | Excluded |
| PHP Themes | WordPress PHP templates cannot run on Shopify. Shopify uses its own Liquid and JSON theme system. | Excluded |
| Custom Plugins | Data from proprietary WordPress plugins that do not have an equivalent Shopify data field. | Excluded |
